Resolutions in support of the $5 trillion National Infrastructure Bank were recently passed by the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC). 

In July, the Coalition had representatives in Philadelphia for the National Association of Counties’ summer meeting. We had a very significant impact, and NACo passed a resolution endorsing the NIB, unanimously. NACo represents 40,000 elected officials (non-partisan) across the country and 3,000 county governments! 

In August, NIB Coalition representatives attended the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in Minneapolis. We had an excellent resolution supporting the NIB legislation. It was adopted unanimously and passed the entire DNC the next day! The DNC is the official leadership of the Democratic Party in the U.S.

Now, we plan to send representatives to the annual meeting of the Democratic Municipal Officials (DMO) in North Carolina the third week of September. We will be able to connect with Mayors and Council members from around the country. 

Plans are also underway for the introduction of the Congressional bill to create the NIB into the 119th Congress. The previous bill had 48 sponsors, and we are mobilizing support for the upcoming legislation. 

This campaign comes against a backdrop of economic and political turmoil, emanating largely from the White House. The workforce is being decimated by forced deportations and budget cuts. Tariff uncertainty has caused many industries to postpone or cut back investment. The net result is that job creation has fallen by 75% in one year, manufacturing has fallen for six straight months, and one-third of the states are now in recession!! 

There are no solutions on the horizon save the NIB. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) is set to expire soon, and there is no money to renew it. The federal budget is running a $1-2 trillion annual deficit. The cupboard is bare! 

The NIB is the only positive policy to spur massive growth of the real, productive economy, and generate millions of new high-wage jobs!
