National Black Caucus of State Legislators Urges Congress to Create National Infrastructure Bank

Dec 22, 2021

Over 500 legislators from around the nation attended the annual conference of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) in Atlanta, Georgia, on the weekend of December 3-6. Among the many activities of the event, the participants passed a series of policy resolutions. This included a resolution to Congress in support of a National Infrastructure Bank. This resolution cited HR 3339, the National Infrastructure Bank Act of 2021, as the preferred piece of legislation, and urged congressional action on that bill. NBCSL now joins a burgeoning group of local, state and national organizations who have endorsed the National Infrastructure Bank.

As the NBCSL mission statement says, “The National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) is the nation's premier organization representing and serving the interests of African American State legislators. With more than 700 members representing more than 60 million Americans, NBCSL serves as a national network, advocate and catalyst for public policy innovation, information exchange, and joint action on critical issues affecting African Americans and other marginalized communities. Through research, education, and advocacy, NBCSL strengthens its members and helps ensure their strong, effective and influential voice on Capitol Hill.”

“NBCSL’s primary mission is to develop, conduct and promote educational, research and training programs designed to enhance the effectiveness of its members, as they consider legislation and issues of public policy which impact, either directly or indirectly upon ‘the general welfare’ of African American constituents within their respective jurisdictions.”

It was in that spirit that the conference unanimously adopted the resolution below.
