March 13 Video: A New Reconstruction Finance Corporation Can Rebuild the USA

Mar 16, 2024

Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and author Steven Fenberg and former senior International Monetary Fund economist Alphecca Muttardy uniquely demonstrate how the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC) stabilized and expanded the shattered U.S. economy during the Great Depression, militarized industry in time to win World War II and how at no cost to taxpayers the RFC’s successful strategies can be adapted to address today’s daunting challenges.

The RFC built bridges, highways, tunnels and aqueducts throughout the nation; developed the latest in high-speed trains; brought electricity to unserved rural areas; and saved thousands of homes, banks, businesses and farms from bankruptcy during the Great Depression, all at no cost to taxpayers. Then it built massive factories and leased them to corporations to manufacture the tanks, ships, airplanes and trucks required to win World War II.

National Infrastructure Bank Bill HR4052 is pending in the United States Congress to create a similar agency that will repair and update the nation’s crumbling infrastructure and provide services to modernize, improve and protect life. The promising bill has 28 sponsors.

Watch this video for a compelling and optimistic Zoom discussion from March 13 to learn how a new national infrastructure bank modeled on the RFC can with no new taxes or federal debt solve many of today’s pressing problems.
